Mount Carmel is now open for worship with a regular service at 10.30 every Sunday.
But Covid is still with us although more limted than before. So we are taking precautions and this is to show what to expect on Sundays.
When you arrive you will be greeted by a steward with a clipboard who will ask whether you have had Covid and take your contact details if not already known.
You will also be confronted by posters requesting you to keep 2 metres apart and follow the arrows.
When get into the Sanctuary you will see that chairs are spaced out in pairs. Please choose your chair, if accompanied by someone in your bubble you can sit together otherwise sit alone. But please do not wander about to talk to friends -please leave that for afterwards outside the church.
Notice the chalk marked arrow on the floor, this is part of the one way system.
There is currently no communal singing, instead hymns on cd will be played and the words projected on the screen. By all means hum along or silently mouth the words.
On the first and third Sundays of the month the service will incorporate Communion and the church has purchased prepacked communion cups specifically to reduce the risk of virus transfer. You tear off the first cover to expose the wafer (bread) and tear of another cover to get to the wine. Afterwards you drop the used cup into the waste bin at the exit.
At the exit the upper receptacle is for the voluntary collection and the lower for the waste communion cups etc.
You will also see in the picture cleaning equipment ready for the deacons to spring into action to sanitize the seats etc after the congregation have left.
But please remember no chatting inside.
We agree these conditions are not what we would wish but whilst there is still a risk of catching Covid-19 we must take these precautions. We hope for not too much longer. We are pleased to report that so far we know of no current member of our congregation that has suffered a Covid infection. We also understand that all but the youngest have had at least one jab and the majority have had two.
If your meeting requires you to enter by the side entrance you will find a reception desk set up just inside where all the same checks will take place.
WE LOOK FORWARD TO WELCOMING YOU TO MOUNT CARMEL IN THE NEAR FUTURE AND TRUST THAT WE WILL ALL KEEP SAFE AND COVID FREE.
